Well, it's a Gaytone. Yes, a Gaytone. Although on the end of the box it says "Gayton" so you can see how much they thought about, or cared about, the name. This radio is sometimes seen as an "Em-tone" and with the same model number, ER-22N. (The Em-tone is shown in "Toy Crystal Radios" Volume One, page 5). The “speaker grille” on this Gaytone is a more deluxe waffle pattern than is seen on the Em-tone.

The radio is new-in-box but has minor wire marks on top of front. I've tried to show these marks in the pictures. I don't think they detract much from the otherwise new condition of this radio. I've kept the radio away from the wires since I've owned it--some 30 years now--by keeping the radio in its own plastic bag as you can see in the pictures. The original instructions are here too, as you can see. The radio is black with a gold grille. Untested. Made in Japan.

Shipped to you carefully packed in a strong box for safe delivery. Your satisfaction guaranteed or your money back.

If you need an excuse for buying a vintage transistor radio, consider this: In times of inflation like these we're living in now, "hard assets" are a recognized "safe haven." Gold, diamonds, real estate—these have historically offered some protection from inflation.

So have collectibles. They're a "hard asset" just like those other things, but they're more fun to hold, more fun to own, and much more affordable. Anyway, that's been my theory for a long time now.

Of course I can't guarantee the future of prices in the collectibles market. But I can say from firsthand experience how much fun it is to collect these little radios.

You're invited to see my YouTube videos about them here.
