When you look at a radio like this you can see how the US lost its way in the consumer electronics business. Sure there were other factors. It is, as they say, complicated. But GE had clearly given up the fight when they turned out this boring, style-free radio. And here I am trying to sell it to you!
General Electric P1704A in the two-tone case (tan front and ivory back). In near-excellent condition with no chips or cracks. With crummy, low-quality leatherette case.
As much as I despise it, I DO have one in my collection. It's a piece of history, so you need one in your collection too. Why is this radio a piece of history? it's one of the last shirt-pocket radios made in the USA in that pivotal era when the consumer electronics industry was shifting overseas.
I tested the radio and got many stations at strong volume. For all my criticism, the engineers did design a quality radio here. They just shouldn't have also been allowed to do the styling!
Shipped to you carefully packed in a strong box for safe delivery. Your satisfaction guaranteed or your money back.

If you need an excuse for buying a vintage transistor radio, consider this: In times of inflation like these we're living in now, "hard assets" are a recognized "safe haven." Gold, diamonds, real estate—these have historically offered some protection from inflation.
So have collectibles. They're a "hard asset" just like those other things, but they're more fun to hold, more fun to own, and much more affordable. Anyway, that's been my theory for a long time now.
Of course I can't guarantee the future of prices in the collectibles market. But I can say from firsthand experience how much fun it is to collect these little radios.
